Ercilla Suit Sew Along, A Free Sewing Pattern From Mood Sewciety

Let’s sew a great beginner jacket and wonderful trouser pants from Mood Sewciety. The Ercilla Suit will be a fun make to add to your fall and winter wardrobe. The pattern is free so it’s perfect for a beginner who wants to explore making a princess seam jacket and a fitted pair of trousers. Let’s get started witht the Ercilla Suit Sew Along

The Pattern

The Ercilla Suit Pattern is a free, downloadable pattern from Mood Sewciety blog. Getting a well constructed trouser pattern and beginner style jacket pattern for free is fabulous. Once you download it, you need to print it out and tape it together. Be sure to print a test swatch first – mine test came out 2″ square spot on. The Ercilla Suit is a casually constructed jacket, there aren’t many tailor focused details, however it does impart a classic look and is a solid beginner sewing pattern.

I noted at the beginning of the video the seam allowance was 5/8 inch, confirmation of that further along in the pattern. I still stitched mine at 3/8 inch.

Lining Fabric

The Theory Bright Tomato Stretch Polyester Lining is a bright contrast to the subdued chocolate brown. Make sure if you are sewing with a woven you choose a woven lining and for a knit fashion fabric choose a knit lining. You don’t want to add a woven lining to your knit garment — it won’t stretch!
