The Pattern

Sew House Seven Paper Sewing Pattern Sauvie Sundress

My new love, the Sew House Seven Paper Sewing Pattern Sauvie Sundress, it is the perfect strappy summer dress for every occasion. Made out of cotton lawn you have a casual summer dress perfect for a neighborhood cookout. Sew it up in a fabulous fabric and add extra couture detail for an elegant evening gown.

Pockets

Offering two pocket styles, topstitched single layer pockets and loose pockets, both with the same curve outline. I cover both versions in my sew along.

Full Upper Lining

I am not a fan of facings, I spend too much time shoving them back in place! I love a fully lined garment, and this version completely lines the upper bust area, finishing off the neckline and armholes. For this dress, I extended the lining to below the pocket giving me slip length coverage. You could add the lining all the way to the midi length for a complete lining.

Wide Elasticized Waist Midi Hem Length Option

The pattern has an optional elasticized waist version. I didn’t explore it for my makes because it doesn’t suit my personal style. However, I’m sure it would be an easy addition to your sundress.

Straps

Shoulder straps that cover bra straps with optional bra keeper snaps add security to the wearability. The narrow straps are thin enough to be pretty and wide enough to hide your bra straps. Win/win!

Sizes

The pattern comes in two size options, 0-20, and 18-34, making it accessible for almost every body shape.

The Fabric

Minerva Exclusive Condor County Viscose Challis Fabric

The fabric options for this dress are endless. I chose the Minerva Exclusive Condor County Viscose Challis Fabric. This fabric was gifted to me by Minerva as part of their Brand Ambassador program. The viscose challis has the perfect amount of body to give the wide midi hem a line beautiful movement. It has a gorgeous drape and if you make the loose waist version it allows a soft flow to the a line skirt. Of course, the graduated print, from ground to sky is stunning. The rich browns of the ground, the subtle green cacti, and the soft blue sky are a perfect backdrop for the eye popping flowers that dot the landscape.

This pattern is a fabulous choice for fabrics with large prints, border prints, or landscape prints. The uncut front and back pieces coupled with the long hem lengths allow the fabric to shine.

Lining Fabric – I used one from my stash, but this would work Minerva Core Range Light Stretch Knit Lining Fabric

Interfacing – I use Tricot Interfacing which you can find in my Sewing With Sandi Etsy Shop.

The Sew Along

My sew along covers the loose waist midi length version of the Sauvie Sundress. I also cover both pocket versions.
