Vogue V9305

I haven’t had any luck finding this pattern for sale, but if you find a copy on Etsy (US) or Etsy (UK), snap it up. The top is flowing and fun. The pants have a flat front and an elastic waist — the best combo for fit if you are curvy.

Fabric for my top is from Elliot Berman Textiles; they have gorgeous fabrics from Italy and France. You can read my Vogue 9305 Pattern Review for all the info on the pattern.

Megan Nielson Dove Blouse

The Megan Nielsen Dove Blouse is super cute. The hem length is very flattering and the hem band is a beautiful way to finish off. The sleeve choices are super fun and on trend. I made this top out of a sheer from my stash, and this Liberty London Tresco Tana Cotton Lawn Fabric. The color way I used is Light. Closet Core Patterns Ebony T-Shirt & Dress

What can I say about this pattern – it’s the perfect swing top/dress. If you have never sewn with knits, this is the one to hone your skills. Super easy to construct and great twin needle detail, you will love the way it fits. You can find the Jersey Needle and the Twin Needle at Minerva.

I made the raglan sleeve top with this tropical Viscose Jersey Stretch Knit in Black. You can read my Minerva Review on the Ebony Tee. The dress is made with a soft and drapey Bamboo Jersey Stretch Knit in Teal, but it comes in 14 different colors. The bamboo knit is gorgeous to sew and is soft against your skin. True/Bias Rio Ringer T-Shirt & Dress

Fun and youthful, the True Bias Rio Ringer T-Shirt & Dress is an updated classic. I love the Jersey Stretch Knit in Bottle Green. The fabric has a good hand and holds it’s shape. The contrasting Stretch Rib in White is super classic. You can also make the ribbing out of the same fabric like I did with the yellow T-shirt, it works great.

Grainline Studio Yates Coat

This coat is modern and youthful, but looks great on everyone. The Grainline Studios Yates Coat Pattern requires some sewing chops, a careful intermediate sewist would do just fine with the construction. It is a big project, but you will love the results. I used this gorgeous Wine Boiled Wool.

Closet Core Patterns Kalle Shirt

The Kalle Shirt from Closet Core (formerly Closet Case) Patterns is one of my go to, tried and true shirt/dress patterns. This version is made from a Cotton Poplin Stripe in Navy. You can read my review on Minerva.

This shirt was inspired by a Spring 2021 Rag and Bone Runway design you can see in my post Shirts Are Everywhere This Spring. The instruction video can be found on YouTube at Close Core – Simplicity Silhouette Patterns Mash Up.

McCalls 8011

This McCalls 8011 denim jacket is the one item you need to add to your wardrobe. Denim jackets never go out of style. Once you fit this cute and classic jacket, you can make it up in a multitude of patterns. I’ve had this American Indian style print in my stash for several years, just waiting for the right pattern to come along.

Simplicity 8377

I have wanted to find a great sweater jacket pattern and Simplicity 8377 seems to be the perfect options. I like their “hacking” patterns because they offer sewists ideas on just how to go about altering patterns to get the style you want. I’m going to make the long version that the model is wearing in this yummy Ponte Roma Double Knit in Ivory Cream. If you have never sewn with Ponte Roma, you should give it a try. It is full of body and stitches up like a woven. Love it!

McCalls 8022

I have had this McCall’s 8022 Sweatshirt Dress in my sights for a while. I bought the knit/fleece from B&J Fabrics several years ago. They are one of my favorite fabric shops in New York City. If you are looking for quality, high end fabrics, this is the place.

Style Arc Teddy Designer Top

I have been looking at this Style Arc Teddy Designer Top for a while and decided to give it a try. I’ve selected two different fabrics that I think will work great. The first one is this Stretch Woven Poly Crepe. The cabbage rose floral with the animal print background is an interesting play on patterns. The Viscose Twill in Grey tones gives the animal print fabric a dressy, evening appeal. I’m looking forward to playing with this pattern and these two fabrics.
