Whole 30 – Day 1 – Ready, Set, Go!

After many, many and many tries at loosing the baby fat – my baby is 27 – I began Whole30 today. After reading the It Starts with Food, Whole30 Book, which you can buy on Amazon Here As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

I eat mostly vegetarian with occasional fish – so what am I going to do without cheese, yogurt and beans for 30 days???? I’m a little scared!! I’m also a grazer, eating 3 squares with no snacking might be my biggest challenge.

Day One – Ready, Set, Go

Breakfast – Coffee with no fake, sugar free, flavored creamer – not so bad. I can do this. Leftover oven roasted potatoes and broccoli (roasted with EVOO) and a handful of organic eggs fried in clarified butter and some fresh pineapple. I have to admit, it was filling and very tasty.

I am not in the office today, so food prep isn’t an issue – we’ll see how next week goes. And it’s a Thursday – who starts a diet on a Thursday?? The Whole30 people recommend going for it; so I did!

Clarified Butter – easy peasy! I bought a really good organic vermont butter, heated it slowly on the stovetop. The milk solids floated to the top without any coaching and I scraped them off – not rocket science! The clarified butter is pretty and tasted so amazing with my handful of organic eggs.

Lunch – Was quick and easy. One bag of mixed greens, half can of tuna, half an avocado, carrots, and a splash of EVOO made a pretty filling salad. I needed a quick lunch because my daughter and granddaughter came for a visit. My granddaughter is 16 months and very busy – so I need to be quick!

Dinner – I am scheduled to teach a tailoring a jacket class tonight, so I need to prep dinner beforehand so I can eat at 8:30 after my class – a little late, but what can a girl do? Gotta make the chedda! I need to go shopping – I didn’t totally prepare for this ahead of time, so dinner was a little thin: oven roasted asparagus with evoo, oven roasted potato and onion slices with evoo and shrimp – here is where I would have gone for the wine and cheese – Yikes! As it turns out the shrimp was yucky – must have been in the freezer too long, so I settled for more eggs – I need to get shopping!!!!

Since there is no “snacking” I drank a coconut water. a kombucha and lots of water inbetween meals. I don’t drink enough, I know this, so no snacking seems to be a good thing — we’ll see!

Here is how I got started on the Whole30 Program

I haven’t been feeling great and I knew I needed to do somthing drastic, so I was ready for a real change. I am more than 50 pounds overweight, my A1C is not good and I know there is inflamation and high colesterol issues. It is so time to take control. I wake up every morning with a headache and my sinuses all stuffed. I. Feel. Like. Crap!

I heard about Whole30 from on of my students and started to do some research. It ticked all my boxes – no weighing, no measuring, wholesome food and freedom to choose. I admit 30 days without wine and cheese scares me a little, but it’s only 30 days. So…..

I sat down and listened to the It Starts with Food,Whole30 book on Amazon Audible in two sittings!
