Love Fall With Sewing Patterns From Vogue, Simplicity, McCall’s, and Butterick
I’ve collected a bunch of fabrics from Mood, Minerva, and Joann to make up these sewing patterns for fall (and into winter). Below is my list of sewing makes and plans for fall; as I complete each piece, the sew along will be added to the descriptions.
I hope these projects inspire you and ignite your sewing mojo. Some of these makes are super easy fall sewing projects, others will require a bit more advanced sewing. However, each will have its own easy sewing tutorial so even beginners can make up these fall sewing projects.

1. Vogue 2036 Sleeveless Jacket
I love this sleeveless jacket. Vogue 2036 is from their summer pattern collection but you can see how it would easily drop into your fall wardrobe. I have this slightly stretchy crepe I like for this jacket. I used the crepe to make Vogue 9291 an asymmetrical wrap that was inspired by a piece I saw in Positano, it is the perfect accessory for fall.
I’m okay with wearing white in the fall season, even into winter. Wear what you love and it will be perfect!
The crepe fabric is from Joann.

2. Vogue 2037 Cropped Top And Wide Jacket
Cropped Top
Of course, There is no way I could pull off this cropped top — wouldn’t that be a hoot! That being said, I love the neckline and the princess seams. The top is made for a woven fabric and has a back zip — that won’t work for me either.
I decided to switch this pattern to a knit fabric and extend the length. My sew along tutorial covers how to morph this woven to knit switch and lengthening the pattern so you can fit your shape.
The fabric for this top is from Mood Fabrics.

Wide Jacket
This jacket/blouse is super interesting. I love the way it falls away from your hips. The curve of the jacket may be a challenge, so my tutorial will go over how to make the curve look perfect. This might be a great look for Thanksgiving, lots of cozy coverage to hide that extra piece of pie!
The fabric from this jacket is from Minerva.

3. Vogue 2053 Cropped Jacket
A cropped jacket needs to be in your wardrobe for fall. The cropped shape is flattering on almost every body type. You want to ensure that proportions are correct for your height, but once that is accomplished, this sewing pattern is a cute addition to your autumn wardrobe.

4. Vogue 2051 Barrel Jeans
I am jumping on the trend bandwagon here with these barrel jeans. When making something like these jeans, proportion is key. I will be paying very close attention to shortening the legs. We shall see how cute they turn out.
The denim fabric for these jeans is from Mood Fabrics.

5. Vogue 2055 Trench Coat
I have wanted to make a trench coat for several years now. I have a few patterns, and made a few muslins, but I haven’t been happy with them. A great Vogue sewing pattern should guarantee a sharp looking coat. My idea with this pattern is to make a muslin over the winter and then add the coat to my sewing projects list for the spring — when it’s raining here in New England.

6. Simplicity 3004 Blouse
This Simplicity blouse is so feminine and soft and an easy fall sewing project. The style is a little out of my comfort zone, but I am curious to give it a try. The sleeveless option would be good for summer sewing, giving this pattern some seasonal longevity. For me, when I have sewing patterns that I can make up more than once, it’s like getting free patterns — or at the very least bringing down the cost per sew. If this comes out like I expect, I have lots of ideas for more makes.
The fabric for this blouse is from Liberty London.

7. Simplicity 3012 Hoodie
Who doesn’t need more hoodies! This cozy number has a trendy touch with the sleeve cutouts. Monochromatic lounge outfits are taking over the yoga pants and old sweaters arena, so it is time to sign up for something more contemporary. We all need a stylish lounge set for those cold nights binge watching our favorite series.
The stay warm fabric for this hoodie is from Mood Fabrics.

8. McCall’s 8453 Knit Pants
To pair with my hoodie, I’m making a pair of McCall’s knit pants. These pants have an interesting detail and a wide waist band. I love the stitching detail along the legs. I have already made these as a short, they are so cute! And, I also made the sleeveless top and I am very happy with my matching set. Learn how to make these pants with my sew along; they may become one of your tried and true favorite sewing projects.
The fabric for these pants are from Mood Fabrics.

9. Simplicity 3009 Faux Fur Jacket
Okay, how cute is this faux fur jacket, perfect for the autumn season. I had a faux rabbit fur jacket when I was in college and it was one of my favorites. I feel like I’m reliving my youth a bit with this one. With this sew, I’ll be ready for cozy leaf peeping and picking pumpkins.

10. Butterick 7000 Wrap Front Pants
This pattern is from an earlier sewing pattern collection, but I feel pants transition well into fall and these will be ready for spring. I like the idea that these are true wrap pants. We shall see how they behave when strolling down the cruise dock! I’ll let you know.
The fabric from the wrap front pants is from Minerva.

11. Vogue 2016 One Button Jacket
This is a carryover pattern from my spring sewing projects. I still love the jacket and it will be in my fall sewing project rotation so I can wear it this spring. It might just be a little too bright for autumn leaves and pumpkin lattes.
The fabric for the jacket is from Minerva.
