1. Sew House Seven Paper Sewing Pattern Sauvie Sundress
I made this one — Wow, it is easy to make and easy to wear. Simple but with bust dart structure and self bodice lining, this sundress is a winner!
The Pattern
The Sew House Seven Paper Sewing Pattern Sauvie Sundress is perfect for a beginner summer sundress sew.
I like that it has bust darts to give it a little shape. This loose fitting, woven tank style dress is a perfect addition to your summer wardrobe. I am not a fan of facings and this dress has a full bodice lining giving the arm holes and neck edge a clean finish.
I ordered the pdf pattern since they don’t ship internationally. Plus, I have the pattern immediately so I can get sewing asap.
Pattern comes in sizes 00 – 20.
The Fabric
One of my new favorite fabrics is a linen viscose blend. It has all the properties of linen, but no wrinkles — it is masterful. I used Minerva Exclusive Condor County Viscose Challis Fabric which was provided by Minerva. You can read my review on my Minerva profile.

2. Butterick Paper Sewing Pattern 5456
I made this dress in a woven fabric. I sized up because it is drafted for knit fabric and I used linen.
The Pattern
Butterick Paper Sewing Pattern 5456 is an adorable sundress with the back opening in the bodice and a gathered skirt.
The pattern is available in sizes 8-14 and 16-24
The Fabric
This sundress is perfect since it has no buttons or zippers. MILK Nova Stripe Tencel Modal Cotton Jersey Stretch Knit Fabric in this beautiful cherry is a nice change from a classic white and blue stripe.
The Class
Check out my Sew Along for this cute Butterick 5456 Pattern.
3. True Bias Paper Sewing Pattern Nikko Top & Dress
The Pattern
True Bias Paper Sewing Pattern Nikko Top & Dress will go from summer to winter depending on the weight of the knit — add sleeves and you have a cozy sweater dress for chilly days. It works as a sundress when you eliminate the sleeves and the collar.
The pattern is available in sizes 0-18.
The Fabric
I love this Art Gallery Fabrics Solid Cotton Jersey Stretch Knit Fabric in Tender Green – one of 18 juicy colors. One long column of color makes you look taller and thinner — who doesn’t like that.
4. New Look Paper Sewing Pattern 6373
The Pattern
The New Look Paper Sewing Pattern 6373 is an adorable sundress pattern. It has two dress styles plus a jumpsuit and romper. It doesn’t show the sundress with the bodice ruffle, but I’m sure it is an easy swap out to create another look.
The pattern comes in sizes 8-20.
The Fabric
Liberty London Tresco Tana Cotton Lawn Fabric is always a great choice when crafting a summer frock. I made Megan Nielson’s Dove Blouse with this fabric, it is so much fun to wear.
Dove Blouse Class
You can find my Dove Blouse Sew Along on Minerva TV.
5. Butterick Paper Sewing Pattern 6350
I love this sundress, I almost bought it for the Schooner Linen in #1, but I didn’t want to put a seam down the front of this gorgeous “stripe.”
I definitely have to add this pattern to my stash, it is so perfect. The cold shoulder is everything.
The Pattern
Butterick Paper Sewing Pattern 6350 has side pockets and several hem options. It would make a great cover up for the beach, nothing too fitted here, perfect for sun and pretty fabric.
It comes in pattern sizes 4-14 and 16-26.
The Fabric
This stunning Cloud 9 Fabrics Organic Rayon Challis Fabric would make a beautiful floaty dress with a bodice ruffle.
