The Fabric

Black Crepe

Minerva Core Range Heavy Triple Crepe Fabric

My second pair of Brampton Shorts were made with Minerva Core Range Heavy Triple Crepe Fabric in black. I love the dressy short look. Occasionally you need to forget the color wheel and add some basic solids to round out the trends. The crepe will dress up the short a bit and add texture for a more interesting make. These will take you from lunch with the girls to date night with your partner.

These shorts were highlighted in my Spring Fashion Trends article. Shorts are here for the summer — you will see them everywhere.

Viscose Challis

Minerva Exclusive Pawprint Patrol Viscose Challis

The first pair I made were with this super fun Minerva Exclusive Pawprint Patrol Viscose Challis. The viscose challis fabric is soft and floaty.

I love the wide legs on these shorts, they just skim over my thighs. I added the side pockets on this pair and the small paperbag waist seam. The pull on style is figure flattering and easy to wear.

Brampton Shorts

There is nothing in the world that drapes like a well made Viscose Challis garment. This viscose challis is no different. Soft and drapey with a beautifully soft hand, this fabric is a dream to sew. For this pair I added the inseam side pockets and the paperbag waist. I narrowed the inseam on the original thighs designed pattern and I think I would have been better to keep the original pattern design.

I hope you get a chuckle out of my photos. It’s really cold in New England and I was too chicken to brave the outdoor weather with bare legs and sandals.

The Sew Along

My step-by-step sew along will make it easy for you to whip up a pair of these shorts pants. The pattern instructions are clear and well written. You will love all the optional Brampton Shorts features.

Wrap

That wraps up my Itch To Stitch Brampton Shorts Pattern Review. I already have a third pair ready to cut. With this garment I’m going to add the side seam pockets, optional detachable sash, optional back pockets, and paper bag waist for the win!

Happy Sewing,

Sandi
