How To Sew A Buttonhole The Easy Way

Drop In Bobbin

You will love the drop in bobbin feature. Simply wind your bobbin with your preferred thread, then drop it into the top-down case. No more fiddling with side inserted bobbins that wiggle out and roll away.

I hate getting on the floor looking for my run-away bobbins – who has time for hide and seek when there is sewing to do!

And with the miracle of modern technology and better design, the machine automatically connects the loop between the top and bottom thread. You don’t have to fiddle with the fly wheel to engage the bobbin thread and upper thread. Genius.

Presser Feet Included

Options are key and the beginner sewist needs a selection of certain sewing feet to complete a project successfully. Well, the CS6000i sewing machine has got you covered with all the basic feet you’ll need to get rocking. You can add specialized feet later as your skills grow and your design confidence expands.

The presser feet slide on and off so easily, no need to change them with a screwdriver like your grandmother’s old Singer sewing machine. Who needs to waste time with that!

  • Walking Foot – critical for when you are stitching slippery fabrics, multiple layers, or just need some extra control.
  • Buttonhole Foot – this machine is worth the price just for the ability to make perfect buttonholes.
  • Zipper Foot
  • Overcasting Foot
  • Monogramming Foot
  • Blind Stitch Foot
  • Button Sewing Foot
  • Spring Action Quilting Foot

Wide Support Table

Gone are the days when you needed to struggle with a small machine base. The Brother CS6000i comes with an oversize extension table offering a sturdy base as you feed your fabric through the machine. The base is easily removed for sewing small fiddly seams like cuffs and children’s clothing that require feeding around a smaller base.

Having your sewing project dangling off the table puts stress on your stitches and makes it harder to get a good straight seam. The extension table helps lift the fabric to the level of the needle and removes the drag on the sewing needle.

Automatic Needle Threader

You don’t have to fret about threading your sewing machine needle, there is an automatic needle threader attached to the machine. Slide the automatic needle threader on the side of the machine and it pushes your thread right through the eye of the needle. Amazing!

My Favorite Feature

Oh my gosh, there are so many great features! I love, love the buttonholes they are amazing, beginners and advanced sewist will love them too.

But my favorite feature has to be the automatic needle down. When you stop stitching, the machine automatically drops the needle into your fabric. This is so handy, it secures your fabric in place preserving your stitching line.

Other Great Features

Below are some of the other great features that make this the best beginner sewing machine on the market and it comes with lots of bells and whistles.

Thread Cutter

Where did those scissors go? Guess what, you can sew without having to search for them after every seam. On the left side of the machine is a built-in thread cutter – perfect when you can find your snips.

Needle Position

You can electronically move your needle so it is placed perfectly in proportion to your presser foot.

Pressure Foot or Not

You can operate the sewing machine with either the presser foot or with the touch of a button.

Drop Feed

The drop feed setting for free motion quilting is so easy to engage.

Case Included

There is a hard plastic case that keeps your machine protected and dust free when not in use.

Portable

In addition to being easy to use, the Brother CS6000i is a lightweight, portable sewing machine.

  1. Love! I was just talking to my mom on how I wanted to buy a sewing machine. I have a vintage one I found in a box with the metal feet but I really don’t know how to use it. Thanks for this information.

  2. Some really good information here about beginner sewing machines. I can’t sew to save my life, but my mom used to sew and I’d sit by her feet and listen to the zzzziiiiiiinng of the sewing machine as it threaded fabric. That is the closest I ever came to sewing. Well that and reading your blog! I love reading your blog

  3. Thanks. I’ve been thinking about getting a machine that can do quilts. I haven’t started that hobby yet but am thinking about it. I gave away my old machine 20 years ago when it stopped working.

  4. I grew up with my Mom sewing a lot of my clothes. I guess that is why I never wanted to sew. Hindsight I can see how much fun this could be if I continued this legacy with my Mom. Thanks for sharing.

  5. That looks very similar to the one I purchased as a starter for my teen. She has started to get the hang of it too! Once she outgrows it, I have an old Singer for her to grow into. Probably not as good as a modern machine, but will work as a next step!

  6. I don’t sew often anymore because of the problems I’ve experienced with my machine. I spend so much time rethreading that it takes the joy of sewing away. This machine sounds like the perfect replacement to my current one. I love the buttonhole feature!!!
