Beautiful Vogue Pattern Release For Spring And Summer Fashion
Spring is on the horizon and it is time to think about sewing up a few new pieces to amp up our spring wardrobes. The new Vogue Patterns for spring offer updated classic looks along with a few trendy pieces. Vogue Patterns are among my favorite patterns because they are typically well drafted and add fashionable details. Anyone can sew up a quick dress (and I often do) but for timeless pieces, I want a more sophisticated style. Vogue Patterns offer pieces that may take a while to sew, but you will be proud to wear your well crafted creations.
From the Diane von Furstenberg classic wrap dress to a wistful ruffled top, there are wonderful patterns to sew this spring. What are you going to add to your personal sewing collections for 2024?

1. Diane von Furstenberg Wrap Dress Vogue Patterns 2000
The hottest pattern on the market right now is Vogue Patterns V2000 – the Diane von Furstenberg Wrap Dress. The re-release of the vintage pattern celebrates the 50th anniversary of her iconic wrap dress.
Delivered in sizes 6-14 and 16-24, the classic pattern comes in knee length and floor length versions
It is one of the must-have patterns of the season!
Fabric
Vogue Patterns fabrics recommended for the iconic Diane von Furstenberg dress are Chalis, Chambray, and Single Knits — soft, drapey fabrics. A classic look would be with a small allover print.
I love this flowing Art Gallery Fabrics West Palm Rayon Challis Fabric Playful Seaweed Nightglow. It would make a darling iconic wrap dress.
The dress would be equally at home with a border print or large scale print. This the perfect opportunity to make the wrap dress your own.
Pro Tip: If you are not a fan of the wrap dress patterns, try this Faux Wrap Dress from Burda, it is one of my favorites.
2. Lined Dress Vogue Patterns 2004
Vogue Patterns V2004 is a lined dress with a front button and loop closure. It imparts the deep “V” look trend while minimizing the exposure. It also has a back zipper allowing for a close fitting bodice. The tiered dress pattern has two sleeve lengths and two hem lengths.
It is offered in sizes 8-16 and 18-26. The fitted top and flowing, tiered skirt is a figure flattering shape for a variety of sizes.
Fabric
Vogue Patterns suggested fabric options include Cotton, Crepe de Chine, Georgette and Lightweight Linen.
Perfectly sunny for spring is this Carolina Herrera Pink, Red and Green Anemones and Leaves Silk Georgette. The colors are a cheery lift out of the dull winter weather. The Silk Georgette would be perfect for a late spring wedding.
3. Dress Vogue Patterns 2005
If you are in the market for a romantic style dress, Vogue Patterns V2005 is a good option. This lined, fit and flare dress has ruffle detail imparting a young, sweet design. Princess seams pair with extended shoulders filled with shoulder pads for a classic look.
The pattern offers two sleeve and two hem lengths, has a front button closure, and a back zipper. It is very similar to V2004 above.
This pattern is printed in sizes 6-14 and 16-24.
Fabric
Vogue Patterns fabric suggestions include Crepe de Chine, Crepe Georgette, and Rayon Challis.
A pretty spring floral like Minerva’s Art Gallery Fabrics 365 Fifth Avenue Rayon Challis Fabric Manhattans Foliage would look darling in this pattern.
4. Dressy Suit Vogue Patterns 2006
The peplum is making a comeback and Vogue Patterns V2006 showcases it wonderfully. The lined jacket has princess seams for a close fit. The interesting square neckline with a neck band (perfect for color blocking) has a zip front closing. The matching belt adds an overall coordinated look. The A line skirt is drafted in a short and long version adding some versatility to the pattern. Shoulder pads are recommended for this pattern. Don’t shy away from shoulder pads — a narrow pad can enhance your shoulder line — it’s not your Dynasty style exaggerated shoulder.
Separate pieces for cup sizes is a great option. This pattern includes drafted tissue for cup sizes A, B, C, and D, and the pattern is offered in sizes 8-16 and 18-26.
Fabric
Vogue Patterns are on top of optimal fabric choices. For this pattern fabric recommendations include Ankara fabrics, Broadcloth, Shantung, and Wool blends. A culturally appropriate fabric would be this stunning Pink, Lemon and Orange Spirals and Abstract Cotton Supreme Super Wax African Print. While I absolutely love this fabric, I feel I could pull it off as a top, but not a full suit — too much cultural appropriation for a 60+ old white woman! If you are able, I can see it would be a gorgeous suit.
5. Dress Vogue Patterns 2010
A halter neck trumpet dress may be just the thing for your spring wedding events. Vogue Patterns V2010 combines classic style with modern lines. Princess seams and a back zipper make fitting magic for constructing this pattern. Also, the pattern offers pieces for cup sizes A, B, C, and D. I adore patterns giving sewists these options — we are not all a size 12 fit model!
The back is fairly open with two crossbars — you may have to add double sided fashion tape to keep your bra back in place. This cut will look great on a variety of body types. If you are worried about your arms, add a pashmina or wrap for a little coverage.
In addition to the cup sizes, the pattern is offered in sizes 6-14 and 16-24.
Fabric
Vogue Patterns suggested fabric options for this dress are Brocade, Dutchess Satin, Mikado, and Silk Faille. Since there are princess seams in this dress, you would want to consider an allover print or solid. Chloe Textured Woven Brocade Fabric is a beautiful option. However, be warned — Brocade is a challenge to sew — each seam may need a time consuming Hong Kong finish.

6. Top Vogue Patterns 2011
A ruffled, baby doll top, Vogue Patterns V2011 is super feminine. If you love ruffles, then this is a good option. However, it’s a little too much for me, but if you are looking for a trendy top that will work for one or two seasons, it is a cute option.
The loose-fitting, lined top has front neck gathers, set in sleeves, and button cuffs. A back slit opening allows for dressing ease. The sleeves have two length options. The ruffles go all the way around the top, therefore, they add a lot of volume.
The top comes in sizes 8-16 and 18-26.
Fabric
Vogue Patterns fabric suggestions include Batiste, Eyelet, Georgette, and Lace.
Since the top is lined, you could opt for a sheer woven for the ruffles like Mood’s White Daisy Embroidered Netting with Clear Baby Sequins. Then shop for solid white or contrasting fashion fabric for the lining, and the sheerness of the ruffles would mitigate some of the added volume.
7. Skirt Vogue Patterns 2013
For me, skirts are an easy dressing option. Having plenty of separate patterns adds versatility to your wardrobe. Vogue Patterns V2013 needs to have a place in your personal pattern shop.
This fitted skirt has a “double-breasted” button feature for a unique take on skirting. It comes in a short, fitted version and a flared floor length with flaring godet.
The skirt pattern is offered in sizes 6-14 and 16-24.
Fabric
Vogue Patterns fabric suggestions include Cotton Drill, Linen, Wool, and medium weight fabrics. I think the long version would be fun in a medium to lightweight denim — very casual, boho look. The Robert Kaufman 200gsm Canyon Denim Fabric comes in 15 fun colors to suit everyone’s desire. I love this Curry color, it is a great neutral and fun to play off other colors.
8. Shorts And Pants Vogue Patterns 2014
Every seasons it is nice to add a new pair of pants to lift up your wardrobe, and Vogue Patterns V2014 is a wonderful tailored option. The high-rise pants (or shorts) are pleated, and have ease through the hips. Classic details like a fly front, back welt pockets, front side pockets, and lining make this a good find when looking for a staple pants pattern.
The pattern is offered in sizes 8-16 and 18-26, and covers a good size range.
Fabric
Vogue Patterns fabric suggestions include Gabardine, Linen, Twill, Wool Suiting, and also a variety of medium weight wovens. They would look great in a variety of colors and textures ready for casual day or evening wear.
This Cool Blue Heathered Linen, Cotton and Polyester Twill from Mood is a fun color most of us don’t already have in our wardrobe.
9. Jacket Pattern Vogue Patterns 2015
Jackets can elevate a simple white t-shirt and jeans into a sophisticated outfit. Vogue Patterns V2015 has flattering princess seams and is semi-fitted. The option of a button or zip closure, long two-piece sleeves, and shoulder pads makes this an on-trend find.
I recommend you shop for a jacket, and then adapt this pattern to the style you find fits the best. When you shop ready-to-wear, you can see what looks great, then modify your patterns to reflect you perfect find.
This pattern is offered in sizes 8-16 and 18-26 making it accessible to almost everyone.
Fabric
Vogue Patterns fabric selections for this jacket pattern can run the gamut of medium weight wovens, and recommended fabrics include Crepe, Garbadine, Linen, and Wool blends.
If you are ready to try a printed jacket, but want something a little subtle, Mood’s Humming Birds Printed Beige Linen Woven is a lovely option. The beige background and dancing humming bird patterns are pretty and offer a chic, sophisticated look.
10. Jacket Vogue Patterns 2016
Jackets with shoulder pads are everywhere this spring. A slight shoulder pad is flattering to everyone and I am happy to see them return. Vogue Patterns V2016 is a classic one-button fitted jacket. The lined jacket has princess seams and high-end two-piece sleeves with a darted cap. Welt pockets and a shawl collar give this jacket a chic look.
The pattern is offered in sizes 6-14 and 16-24. The cutaway style with princess seams is a great look for many different body types.
Fabric
Vogue Patterns fabric suggestions include Broadcloth, Linen, Crepe, Tweed, and Wool Suiting.
Minerva’s 100% Cotton Broadcloth Fabric is a great value allowing you to make a classic jacket in fun, trendy colors without breaking your budget. I love the Lime Green color, perfect as a affordable seasonal trend, however, if you are looking for longevity opt for a more sedate color.
11. Classic Suit Vogue Patterns 2017
Suits are back and Vogue Patterns V2017 is a beautiful updated classic pattern. The close fitting, double breasted jacket is lined. It has an interesting square neckline, princess seams, welt pockets, and two piece sleeves. A riff on an iconic Chanel style, the jacket comes in two lenghts. Also included are a below-the-knee fitted pencil skirt and high-rise cropped leg pants.
The intermediate sewists pattern comes in sizes 8-16 and 18-26. I love princess seams, the vertical lines look great on every body type and they are easier to fit than a simple bust dart.
Fabric
Vogue Patterns suggested fabrics include Boucle, Linen, Tweed, and Crepe. You won’t go wrong with a pretty Tweed, but that might be more appropriate for cooler weather. If you are considering a spring suit, I would go with a lush Crepe. A solid in a beautiful spring color would be stunning, however, a vibrant overall pattern like Mood Exclusive Dizzy about Daffodils Viscose Crepe would be a showstopper — modern suiting for spring at its best.
12. Suit Pattern Vogue Patterns 2018
Another suiting option from Vogue Patterns is V2018. This pattern has a less full peplum than Vogue Patterns 2006 for a more subtle line. The jacket is fully lined and has in-seam pockets. The skirt is long and stitched with godets for fullness, and the pants are tapered and offer a size button waistband and zip.
The pattern is offered in sizes 4-12 and 12-20.
Fabric
Vogue Patterns fabric suggestions for this pattern include Broadcloth, Linen blends, Crepe, and Wool Suiting.
If you have office days where you need to dress for a meeting, this suit is a stylish modification of a retro women’s suit.
Minerva Core Range Wool Touch Stretch Woven Suiting Fabric in Plum, or one of the other variety of colors, would make a classic suit perfect for a sophisticated meeting look. With stretch suiting you can achieve a closer fit, and a more comfortable make.
13. One Shoulder Dress Vogue Patterns 2021
While I personally am not a fan of the one shoulder dress, it is a very successful look on many women. Vogue Patterns V2021 combines the one shoulder look with a long silhouette with or without pants. The loose fit top/dress has a side seam zip ensuring a good fit. The pants have a flat front and elastic back — a nice combination for fit. Visit a few high end ready to wear outlets and shop for this look to see if it suits your personal style.
This style of patterns are really just secret pajamas!
The pattern is offered in sizes S-XL inclusive in one envelope.
Fabric
Vogue’s fabric options include Charmeuse, Linen Blends, Rayon Challis, and Silk Crepe, however, any drapy fabric will work for this uptown date-night look. This Art Gallery Fabrics Sonata Rayon Challis Fabric Pastoral Crescendo would make a stunning outfit.
