Flirty And Chic
This gorgeous dress would be a perfect outfit to wear at a fancy event. The black ruffle at the top and bottom give it balance while the color blocking is runway fresh.
The runway dress is made with silk and iridescent fabrics, making it fairly impractical. However, this dress would work great in a full bodied knit like this Ponte Roma from Minerva. It comes in many colors and has a great weight and drape.
By using McCalls 7606 Wrap Skirt with the ruffle (version C) you can get the same great look and control the height of the slit. Not many of us can pull off a severe ruffle from cuff to cuff and over the bust. I suggest something a little softer like this New Look 6507. Shorten the dress and make it a top for the same sense of femininity that is more wearable.
Making it a two piece ensemble gives your wardrobe more versatility.
Sophisticated Casual Elegance
I love a long dress for summer. This one makes a statement. It says “I’m ready for a fun time!”
I suggest Mimi G’s version, Simplicity 8915. It has clean, simple lines. Extend the shoulder line for a closer version to Siriano’s.
This fabric is so much fun and we are seeing sequins for day wear! This Multicolor Sequin Lace from Minerva makes an I-am-here statement for sure.
Comfy Monochrome Knit Dress
This little beauty is an updated classic. One color, simple lines and great details give this dress that high end feel.
Check out this Birch Solid Interlock Knit in Celedon from The Confident Stitch as a soft, drapey knit for super comfy dress. I would use the Sew Liberated Stasia Dress as a jumping off point. The pattern is very similar, it has a more modest neckline, which I like but you can just use your French Curve to make the neckline more open. The sleeves are ruched up with a sewn in channel and drawstrings. The Stasia Dress has a full length version which is easily shortened into a high low hemline.
I hope you enjoyed my take on Christian Siriano Spring Sewing Inspiration, I enjoyed finding all the patterns and fabrics.
